Carp Fishing!

We've already discussed pike and trout fishing, but what about carp? This post will discuss carp fishing and what you need to know about it.

    Carp's lifestyle

Carps have a pretty relaxed lifestyle, living in freshwater environments, like lakes, rivers, ponds, and reservoirs. They prefer shallow to moderate depths in less-turbulent waters and besides living in freshwater environments they can tolerate Brackish water (where the river meets the sea). In deeper waters, they tend to stay close to the surface plants, where they can find food and shelter.

They're warm-water fish, being the most active between temperatures of 15-30 degrees Celsius. In the winter they are semi-dormant.

Carp is tolerant to low-oxygenated waters, being very adaptable to a variety of aquatic conditions. That's why you can find them in almost all artificial ponds. They prefer slow-moving or still waters and they spawn in early spring when temperatures rise.

And the last important thing that you must know about carp is their diet. They are omnivorous fish, meaning that they eat a lot of stuff like aquatic plants,  insects, worms, mollusks, fish eggs, and small fish. This is how their diet is affected by the time of the year:

    - Spring and summer: very active, eating more because of the spawning season

    - Autumn: As the water cools, carp are trying to gain as much fat, for the winter, so they're eating insects and crustaceans

    - Winter: They feed just if needed.

    Carp's fishing

Carp fishing is not that complex, you only need a long spinning rod (about 10ft) with an 8-10 lb line strength.

The only complex thing is the bait.

These are the best baits for carp:

-Boilies- small round balls that come in different flavors like spicy, fruity, fishy and others

-Corn- Sweet corn is one of carps favorite meals. You can use canned sweetcorn, or you can boil some dry corn kernels

-Dough Balls- versatile and traditional these carp baits are made with a mix of flour, cornmeal, water, and additives like sugar and vanilla. You can make them at home.

-Bread- This bait is the love of carp.

-Worms and maggots are irresistible to carp, being natural baits.

Ok! That's the base of carp fishing. The only thing that remains to be done is waiting.

Bass Fishing!

Bass fishing is the GOD of fishing, right? So, in this post, we'll discuss everything you must know about bass and bass fishing.     As you already know, there are more species of bass, the most popular being the Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, and Striped Bass. Let's talk about where you can find each one:      Largemouth Bass can be found in areas with ample cover, like weeds, lily pads, rocks, and submerged logs. In warmer months they tend to stay close to the surface, and in colder months they move toward deeper water where they can follow baitfish. You can find them in freshwater lakes, ponds, rivers, and reservoirs, especially in North America.     Smallmouth Bass are more sensitive to water temperature and quality, thriving in clear, rocky lakes and rivers with a moderate to fast current. They tend to hide around rocky structures, ledges, and deep pools. Most can be found in the northern U.S. and Canada.      Striped Bass can be...

The Sturgeon!

The sturgeon is a fish that carries with it an ancient lineage, tracing back over 200 million years. These prehistoric creatures have outlived dinosaurs, their armored bodies and distinctive features largely unchanged by the passage of time. With their elongated bodies, bony scutes along their backs, and long, whisker-like barbels near their mouths, sturgeon possess a unique, almost otherworldly appearance. They can grow to impressive sizes, with some species like the beluga sturgeon reaching lengths over 20 feet and weights exceeding a ton.     Sturgeon is mostly found in both freshwater and saltwater environments, depending on the species. Many of them are anadromous, meaning they migrate from saltwater to freshwater to spawn. Their habitats include rivers, lakes, and coastal regions across the Northern Hemisphere. Despite their ancient resilience, sturgeon populations face modern threats such as overfishing, habitat loss, and pollution, making many speci...

Equipment For Fishing Trips!

If you're going on a fishing trip and don't know what to bring? You are in the right place. In this post, we'll discuss the equipment for your trip and much more.     Ok, let's get straight to the point. We all know that when you have a day more and you're leaving for that fishing trip you're too excited and you can't sleep. Now, let me tell you how to fix that.  You can't.     Now that we've clarified this unfixable problem let's focus on more important things, like location. Location is the most important aspect in fishing. It doesn't matter if you've been to that place before because you just might find America again. So yeah, going to a place that you've never fished on it's not just a mystery, but an expedition too.     Good. We can now focus on the equipment. What do you take in? Rods! It doesn't matter what you fish for, the most important thing that you must normally have are rods! Multiple rods if you can, because a l...
